2026 WORLD FOOD DAY BY WINCO-GLFx UYO CHAPTER
Today, 16 October 2026, WINCO-GLFx Uyo Chapter joins the world to celebrate World Food Day.
For us in Essien Udim LGA, Akwa Ibom State, food security begins with rural women and restored landscapes. Through the GLF-supported STIM-D Project in Essien Udim , we are scaling up our impact: training 60 women from 6 communities, restoring 13 hectares of degraded land, and planting 2,000 climate-resilient jackfruit trees.
Jackfruit is more than a tree. It is food, income, nutrition, and climate resilience for rural women and their families.
With the inauguration of the Community Women Essien Udim Multi-Purpose Cooperative Society, our women are now organized to ensure food sufficiency, and build sustainable livelihoods.
This World Food Day, we celebrate rural women as the heart of our food systems.
